The dodge V10 8.0 has the most torque up to 3000 RPM peaking at 450 AT 2500. (mighty quiet running at 1600 RPM in OD at 57 mph with over 400 lbs of torque)The Ford V10 6.8 has 425 peaking at 3250. The Chevy 8.1 peaks at 455 at 3200. All of these are classic "big boy motors" and fun to drive with a load. I like all three and I hope they come back someday because for purchase price, towing performance, ease of maintenance, and longevity I don't think there is anything better.
I've read about brake complaints on the Dodge, but since I always downshift when slowing, I have never had a problem. In fact at 60,000 on my 98 (only use as RV) I still have the original brake pads.
Another nice thing about the Dodge vs Ford and Chevy is the Dodge of those years has more payload since it is a lighter curb weight truck. My 2500 2WD quad cab 3.55 rear end with V10 weighs 5980 empty with 8800 GVWR. This helps for truck campers and fifth wheels. Limiting factor is the tires.
