dodge V-10
So I found a good deal on a 1997 dodge V-10 2500. It is the same as my truck, only it is an SLT model and has an automatic instead of a 5 speed. The truck has 131,000 miles. Are there any real issue...

I'm not sure where your figures came from, but the horsepower figures are highly inaccurate, especially for the Dodge V10. Horsepower is derived from torque and RPM- HP= torque x rpm /5252. So at 1000 rpm the Dodge is only producing 76 hp and the Chevy 72. To make 230 hp at 1000 rpm it takes over 1200 ft./lbs. of torque.
Even so, that Dodge engine was a towing beast. It would probably kicked the snot out of a Cummins of the same vintage, at the expense of roughly twice the fuel consumption and half the engine longevity.
