Driving with your hazard flashers on

Some states require that for slow moving vehicles. Some people are just idiots. Take your pick.

And against the law in some states.

I may be wrong, but I was always taught the 4 way flashers were to used when actually stopped on the side of the road. Times have changed.

I did a Google Search and came up with all kinds of things. In Florida is illegal to use your fashers in the rain.

Flashers are for "emergencies" only. What constitutes an "emergency" though?

Flashers are used for warnings of adverse conditions ahead, giving warning to those behind.

Seems there is no set "standard" for the use of flashers and as one web site stated, the rules are different for every state.

All we can do is, if we see a vehicle on the road running with flasher on, just proceed with caution. They may be warning you they are drunk too!

I see truckers doing it all the time. Don't remember seeing RV'ers doing it

I talked to the state patrol and it is illegal. They said get his license number and call 911. When I said I didn't want to call 911 for a non emergency they advised me that it was the proper thing to do and was okay. They said they would contact him to find out more information or pull him over if an officer is near the area.

The part that bothers me is he constantly changes lanes and then exits, but nobody has any idea what he is doing unless he brakes. Not that you can always tell what everyone is going to do, but this adds to the confusion and effects traffic.

And he is correct it is, yet drive an Interstate in a summer thunderstorm and you see plenty of people driving with the 4 ways on. Guess the flashing lights somehow improve the traction of their vehicle as they haul a** in conditions that cause a rational person to lift off the 'go' pedal a bit.

In FL the hazard flashers signal a vehicle in distress, as in disabled, as in , on the shoulder. If you aren't comfortable driving in our rain, to the point where you feel you need your flashers on, pull over. Wait ten minutes, it's FL.
