Driving with your hazard flashers on

I wasn't intentionally calling him an idiot. I was responding to the post calling me an idiot. I used poor judgment in my wording. He may have a reason for doing it for all I know, but everyday for that long strikes me as odd. Maybe he is intimidated by the interstate or maybe his tail lights don't work.

I have turned on my four ways during heavy rain, fog or snow and coming up on a traffic jam. If I were pulled over I would ask them why they use their flashers? It is to be seen and in heavy rain, fog or snow it is very hard to see the vehicle in front of you. But then I also do not drive like a madman in those conditions either.

:) Again. I never said I was calling the cops ! I talked to there information person and they advised me too, but that doesn't mean I am going to. It is an annoyance, but I am not calling 911 for something like this. I posted on here because I was curious to see what others thought of the situation.

People not stopping at stop signs, turning from the wrong lane, passing school busses with red flashing lights on, blasting their boom-boom noise makers, Etc. If you call the cops because you don't like someone using their hazard lights, then you're an idiot. This person might have a good reason for doing it and you should leave him alone.

Never said I was calling the cops and even if I do it doesn't make me an idiot ! Tell me one good reason a person would have to drive with their hazards on every single day ! He is not driving slow or cautiously and constantly changes lanes. This in turn causes confusion to the rest of the drivers which creates a hazard to everyone on the road. In my mind that makes him the idiot ! If you have to drive with your flashers on every day then you should just stay home. The state patrol doesn't want people to put their flashers on in rain or snow either. Unless there is an emergency or they are pulled over. They claim it causes more accidents.

What if this person was your daughter or your grandfather doing this would you like it if someone called the cops on them??????? So far, he hasn't hurt you or anyone else; Leave him alone. Put yourself in his shoes. Maybe these are the only lights that work on his vehicle and he can't afford to fix them because he is fighting cancer. (and on his way to see his doctor when you see him) Boy that would make you feel real good calling the cops on him, wouldn't it??????

If I'm driving in monsoon rain, and I'm afraid of people not being able to see me, I'd rather park under an overpass - with flashers on, rather than crawl along with flashers on - which are illegal in FL no matter what your excuse is.

If conditions make it hazardous for driving, or your driving skills aren't what they used to be, then you need to stop driving - flashers don't make it/you any less hazardous.

I really find it hard to believe that a police officer told someone to call 911 when they see this though.... Even if he did, then I'd be skeptical of his knowledge, and wouldn't do it anyway.

Stop and ask him, that's the only way you will know why he is doing it. Asking here, well, we don't know why he is doing it.

Could be, but it is still a hazard for everyone else. My old vehicles the hazards stopped when you put on the brakes, but I just checked and my 03 doesn't.

Yep. That is exactly what happens when the brake lights are faulty. They work just as you described. I have seem many people use the 4 ways for brake lights. Again. Just a thought from experience.

Function of the Brake lights appear to be fine. Every time he put the brakes on the hazards stop and are bright.
