I use a 1 ton dually because I didn't want or a1/2 ton trying to handle 4200# of pin weight. I have a GCW with 5er and truck at a little over 28K...I didn't get a 3/4 ton because I would exceed possibly, RAWR, and for sure, GCWR. With 5er I have now, would have been well over 3500 SRW GVWR, and pushing it, if not over RAWR.. The stability in the mountains, towing on very curvy, mountainous roads, I guess, is my "whatever" answer. I'm also under my trucks ratings, in my case, it's peace of mind "whatever"....
