8,000 dealer orders with just over 400 actual customer orders.....hmmmm
Dealers just filling the lots ..then big discount to get rid of them
Also if you go to the ram site you will see that they are having the driver weigh 150lbs to get that killer 850lbs of payload !!
I know I don't weigh 150lbs ..how about you ?
I guess if I bought one my payload would be 775lbs. :B - thomasmnileExplorer

Smooth, seamless (drama-free) shifts, quiet, and plenty of steady, torquey, passing power. Since the curb weight of the GC is within a few hundred lbs. of the Ram Ecodiesel, I would anticipate a similar driving experience (straight-line) in both.
The GC's 0-75 acceleration time seemed very similar to a 2014 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins auto I also test drove.
In a word, I was impressed with this 3.0 Ecodiesel in the GC. For a lot of average folks the torquey, diesel driving experience and fuel economy alone will sell the Ecodiesel. Payload issues aside, the average truck buyer knows it's a "1/2 ton" truck and that's good enough for them. As long as it'll haul stuff to and from Home Depot or haul a Uhaul trailer they'll be good to go. - 45RicochetExplorerSure would make a nice toad. Wish it could be towed 4 down.

Good for Ram and I hope the trend continues. This Ecodiesel could be for Ram what the Ecoboost is for Ford. Hopefully it is a reliable engine right off the bat if they continue to sell huge volumes of them. If it turns out to be as popular as the Ecoboost and turns out to be problematic it could be devastating.
Is this an all new engine or is it an engine that has a track record in Europe or someplace else?
New for this application (in a pickup truck), but not a new engine in automotive or MDT truck applications in Europe. According to Wikipedia, the engine has been in the European market since 2011. - alexleblancExplorer850lbs of payload in crewcab trim, as much of a great drivetrain as this might be its not in the right truck.
- spoon059Explorer IIFantastic news for Ram! They have been greatly improving quality and looks in the Ram recently. Payload is too low to make it useable for me though. Highway gas mileage should be a huge plus. I hope they sell 500,000 of them this year!
- otrfunExplorer IIVery good news indeed! I'm a rootin' for 1/2 ton diesels. Don't care who makes 'em!
As for the bad news, with all this high, initial demand, rather doubt there's gonna be a lot of dealers offering any substantial discounts. Remember when the Ecoboost got on its initial roll? They loaded them up with gold-plated hitches and diamond-studded steering wheels, marked 'em way up, and made tons of money! - 2003silveradoExplorer IIGood for Ram and I hope the trend continues.
