- WheelholderExplorerWe bought a small heater with a digital t-stat. Max output is 1500 watts. We use it along with the furnace and our honda. Set the furnace low and let the small hea
ter run. Lots of them at Home Depot or Lowes. You can take your pick - dfmExplorerI am also looking for a new electric heater.
I have been reading about the Vornado AVH2. It seems these heaters will run at 800 or 1500 depending on demand for heat to meet the thermostat setting and the fan runs all the time to distribute heat?
Are they quiet? How about the reliability?
Any of you folks used these and are you a happy camper? - sleepyExplorerThe ceramic cube heaters for ~ $22 will have 3 position switches...
1500 watts... if it plugs into a 110volt recepticle this will be the maximum that won't trip your breakers.
You can pay $450 for an Amish plug in room heater... it is still 1500 watts
I prefer a thermostat controlled recepticle (available in an extension cord... Tractor Supple has them for watering tank heaters to keep te tanks from freezing)
I use mine all winter to keep the TC warm and ready.
remember... 1500 W is the maximum, read the lable, down let them put the screws to you...

Looking to get a small electric heater for our camper when we are in parks where you can't run the generator. Any suggestions on the best one? We have an AF1150
I guess I would ask if you are not allowed to run the generator that must mean you don't have shore power available? If you don't have shore power available how do you plan to run an electric heater? If you are talking about a 12VDC heater they are very inefficient, it is going to take a lot of battery power to run them. You would be better off just using your camper furnace. You could get either a plat cat or a wave catalytic heater for those time, but use them carefully. - niftypkgExplorerBought a Sunbeam ceramic at WW for $17. Two heat settings and one fan alone. Does have a thermostat. It is about the 1/2 the size of a toaster but noisy fan. Previous rotating one with remote and digital face plate broke. Bye, bye $70. Cheap is better.
- JumboJetExplorerMake sure and get one with a digital thermostat.
- RoyBExplorer III use the low profile (14-inch tall) oil filled heater here... Not the tall ones. No noise-no open flame-no dburnt dust smell... We feel real safe having these around the trailer especially for pets and small visiting kids...
I also have a couple of these 600WATT OIL FILLED Heaters as well...
If we need to move some warm around the trailer I will sit one these O2COOL AC/DC/D-CELL 10-inch portable fans behind the small heaters - perfect fit...
Roy Ken - NRALIFRExplorer"Best" can be highly subjective. Small heaters like this are limited to 1500 watts, so some might say buy the cheapest 1500w heater you can and you'll get the same amount of heat as an expensive one. Unfortunately, some of those inexpensive 1500w heaters have noisy fans. You could buy an oil filled heater and have total silence, but those tend to be bigger than I'd want in a TC.
Pelonis ceramic disk heaters are typically quiet and well made, but they're also expensive. But, I have one and love it for where we use it, which isn't in the TC. The heater I keep in the TC is a Holmes 1500w ceramic, moderately priced, with a quiet fan. I keep it in the camper because it has one thing that the Pelonis doesn't, and that's a "Low" setting that won't overload my 1000w Yamaha. So I can use it both in campgrounds with hookups, and camping off the grid.
:):) - 2_RetiredExplorerWe have used a small polonis heater for years!
