Hehe... Yeah, I'd ask you if you've been my camping neighbor before, but I realize that we're not the only couple that have had those campground "conversations" about what hand signals mean... Fortunately, my wife grew up on a farm so she's not a total newbie at helping back in a trailer.

Good advice about the fellow campers and how to recognize the experienced ones. Other than a handful of amenities (electric awning, electric jack/stabilizers, etc.), the biggest difference between this trailer and my old one is mostly size. I'll have to practice backing a little bit next week before we hit the CG.

Heh, from those quotes it does look like I've been going through the process with my eyes closed. I really have been studying and paying attention - I just didn't really have any concerns (and still don't, really) with the 30 vs. 50 amp service so my ears weren't perked up for that. It really was just another thread on here that got me curious. We're not real power hogs when camping anyway, so the 50-amp would likely be a lost option on us.

With regard to the PDI... That will be interesting. Since I am buying the trailer from Ohio and having it hauled to my home in Washington State, there will not be an in-person PDI. The dealer (actuially the one in that video - the dealer, not the salesman) has recorded the PDI and the disk, SD card or whatever media format that contains it will reach me when the trailer does. I had the hauler (independent and hired by me - not through the dealership) do a full walkaround/walkthrough, take a number of pictures and give me a report before he even hitched up.
This isn't my first trailer so I will be familiar with operation of a number of the typical things. Those that I'm not familiar with I will definitely ask questions of the dealer if I'm not clear after viewing the PDI video (several times). The 2-part video that is linked in an earlier reply to this thread was a big help to me during my decisiojn process as well as after the decision to know some of the questions to ask of the dealer - glad there was such a comprehensive, representative walk-through video available. This dealer has been GOLDEN to work with so far - before and after the sale - so I have confidence that I will not be left hanging after the trailer reaches me if I need answers. I guess we'll see for sure in the next month or so.

Thank you, I am sure I will enjoy that trailer and believe me, I appreciate the fact that my daughter (and 14 y.o. son as well) still want to camp with the parental units ;). If tradition holds, that may not last a whole lot longer, but I will try to keep it going as long as I can.

Sure hope you pay attention during PDI with dealer.....might want to video tape the PDI and/or have someone take notes.
And don't rush that PDI just because it's Sunday, you're excited OR dealer tries to rush it.
ASK questions, operate everything, ASK questions.........get answers then ASK more questions.

Enjoy that trailer.....and that your DD stills wants to go camping with the folks :B

I does not matter one bit whether the bars are on or off when backing up. The trailer will respond the same either way.

Also, just found out that our name came up on the waiting list for a spot at our local KOA for Labor Day weekend... will get a full hookup spot after all - back-in vs. pull-through but that's okay... need to polish up my backing skills with this bigger trailer. WOOT!! My 12 y.o. DD is absolutely PSYCHED!! She was fully prepared to camp in our backyard/field but loves that campground so life is good for her right now.

Stand by for a post about backing a trailer with an Equal-I-Zer hitch. I know you can do it with the WD/Sway part... just wondering if it's easier with the bars removed. I post another thread about this.

As to your question, yes the converter size is immaterial to the AC service size.

I would agree with this. Nothing you have listed indicates that the unit has, or needs, 50 Amp service. The 55 amp on the converter is the DC output. It probably only draws 6 or 7 amps on the 120V side.
