Ford, FCA, and GM all offer employee discounts which are a part of the UAW contract. The employee price is printed on the actual invoice to the dealer and the dealer is paid a stipend to sell the vehicle to the employee at this price minus any incentives currently in place including dealer cash and consumer cash. In addition there are other discount prices offered by the manufacturers such as Friends and Family, supplier discounts, etc. Employee prices are also made available for the employee to pass on to immediate family.
A properly executed employee price deal is the lowest possible price one will pay for a vehicle. Some dealers will occasionally sell to the public at prices lower than the employee price by subtracting a portion of current incentives to lower the price to the printed employee price. In actuality this price will not be equivalent to the then current employee price because the consumer does not receive the entire incentive as an employee would.
Dealer's often take advantage of this possibility and the consumer is not in fact receiving the current actual employee price as represented.
