Equalizer WDH

Looking to get some feedback if anyone with the e2 hitch have tried the pads on the bars and how they worked

  • i have the e2, and haven't had a single problem yet. I don't grease anything either, and no pads. Yea there's some clicking and popping, but that's normal, and doesn't really bother me. I've thought about greasing the ball, but that's it. The friction points are there for friction, that's how the sway control works. Greasing that reduces friction. Not sure why you would want to reduce friction on a friction point.

Re-check the instructions for your e2 - pretty sure Fastway says "no pads on the brackets" with e2. The e2 has two-point sway control - the brackets. Using the pads will dramatically reduce sway control.

The pads are for the Equal-I-zer brand hitch, which uses 4-point sway control (2 at the brackets, 2 at the hitch-head) and can tolerate some sway-control reduction.

The nylon pads do help reduce noise. With proper lubrication and use of the pads, my Equalizer hitch is pretty quiet most of the time. But, I don't have the E2 model. However, the pads serve the same purpose on both hitches.

Ditto. But just to clarify, you don't lubricate the pads. You'll lose the sway control function.

I have the 4 way 12K equal-I-zer and love it. I use the Pads, and I use heavy grease (like wheel bearing grease), around the pivot points. i.e. Friction areas of the sockets where the bars slide in. Use an old tooth brush. I do this before I leave home, then again before I leave the campsite and it stays pretty quiet. The only time I hear it is when I turn sharply backing up sometimes.

    Agreed...no need to lubricate pads.
  • I use the pads, but find that most of the noise from my 10K Equal-i-zer comes from the pivot points as well. I lube them lightly and the noise goes away. Some have said that lubing the pivot points decreases anti-sway, but I have not had any problems.
