- wrenchbenderExplorerFor a TT its a waste of money.
- IndyCampExplorerDon't know which brands you are looking at, but Forest River offers a second year of warranty coverage for $150 on their towables. I think you have to file and pay within 10 days of purchase or something. It covers the same stuff as the original one year warranty so it's definitely worth the $150. I don't know why they don't just ditch the minimal fee and just start including it.
Jayco is a standard two year warranty.
I wouldn't pay for any more coverage than that on a travel trailer. - coolbreeze01ExplorerBuy a trailer that comes with a 2-year warranty. Good luck.

- LowsuvExplorerI make the argument that a travel trailer or 5th wheel is a better solution than a motorhome .
The average handy guy can repair a TT .
The MH has electrical systems that are all tied together and more opportunity to go wrong . And harder to diagnose .
Buy a TT and keep it a long time and you can fix anything on it . - Sandia_ManExplorer IINot a bad idea for peace of mind sake, but the fine print usually allows them to deny claims making the extended warranty useless in many cases. For motorized RVs, extended warranties are a wiser investment as a single repair bill could easily cover the cost of the extended warranty, but towables rarely incur such heavy repair bills, plus many issues can be readily diagnosed and repaired if one is handy with tools.
Ultimately it's your call and your money, we've been lucky and proactive with our current TT and have handled all the maintenance, upkeep, and minor repairs ourselves. Thankfully we have never had to drag our rig back to the dealer although they have provided miscellaneous parts and advice from time to time. Being part of this forum is not only fun, but hugely informative with all the tips on trouble-shooting along with remedies to fix the most common issues that plague RVs in general. Happy camping in your new TT!!! - skipncharExplorerMy advice is never buy double coverage. If the trailer was purchased with a warranty, wait and get an idea just how reliable it is while using the existing warranty and make the decision based on real data. Remember also it really isn't a warranty but an insurance policy. Ask yourself who makes money in almost all insurance deals (hint, the insurance company )
Good luck / skip - rfryerExplorer

Yes another question and I know the dealership will try and sell. Basic warranty is for 1 yr. is it worth the money and what is a reasonable charge. Thanks
Probably not for a TT but many people buy them for peace of mind. Read the fine print like a lawyer, between the deductibles, caps and exclusions you’re very likely to have less coverage than appears on the surface. Everyone pushes them which is a good indication they are a lucrative profit center. Some people have bad luck or get a bad unit and it pays well for them, most people will pay more for the warranty than they would have for the repairs. To me it makes more sense to put the money in an account and add small amounts to it periodically. Odds are you’ll cover your repairs and have cash left over for whatever. - GdetrailerExplorer III"extended" warranties? Buyer be aware.
Generally and strictly from the money aspect, no, not worth it.
Extended Warranties often are nothing more than a "prepayment" up front to get things repaired. The warranty company (and the selling dealer)are hedging their bets that they will NEVER, EVER see your angry face when it is broken to get it repaired grace their show room floor. And if you never have a claim then they made tons of profit off of you.
Keep in mind that warranties are only as good as the insurance company and the dealer, often times the dealer or insurance company goes out of business, sells off to another owner (claiming your extended warranty was only valid until the change of ownership) or just flat out refuses to honor any parts of the extended warranty.
Read and understand every word on the contract BEFORE signing your hard earned money away. Know every aspect and angle in the wording, if you don't understand, don't sign and ask for clarification.
In the end it is your money and your decision to make, chose wisely. - the_bear_IIExplorerSee the website www.rv-dreams.com they have some info about extended warranties and have had to use theirs several times for the 5th wheel and truck.
