exterior running lights

We purchased a 2012 Jayco Jayfeather last year and have had about a half dozen great trips in it. The last time we took it out, we returned home, unhooked the trailer, unplugged the electrical and hooked to shore power as we always do. The next morning I looked out to see my running lights were on. Again, the trailer is unhooked from the tow vehicle and I even disconnected the coach battery. So the only way to turn off the running lights is to unhook from shore power. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,

    This isn't a ground issue. The only way the trailer's running lights can power on without being plugged into your tow vehicle is if +12 vdc from the converter (since you've disconnected the battery) is being applied to the circuit, the same circuit that is Pin 3 on your Bargman connector. Check it with a voltmeter and if you find power on that pin then somewhere there's a short allowing + 12 vdc on Pin 4 to get to Pin 3.

    My Award TT has that problem, but only when it got hot out. The running lights were shorted to power somewhere in the roof to one of the interior lights. And when it got hot it was enough for the insulation to soften and the 2 wires to connect. I ended up pulling power to the one light I had it traced too. And then running a new circuit to that lamp. After that it functioned like it should. I wasn’t about to rip apart the ceiling trying to find that small short!

    It has nothing to do with your shore power cord. Check SG's post for the circuit involved.
