The Z71 trucks I have looked at had very low rated tires and limited the payload capacity - actually the sticker in the glove box would state that the truck was not suitable for use with a camper. Easy enough to sell the tires and get higher rated ones.

When I had to have the EGR cooler, turbo and fuel injectors replaced (all at one time) on my Ford F250 - I took the advise given to me by the Ford service manager.

His advise? He said "if I were you, I would get rid of that truck as fast as I could."

Four weeks after I got home from that trip - I had a Dodge in the driveway.

This isn't in response to the "beach" problem but more to do with the Ford 6.0. For those out there with this truck and engine do yourself and your pocket book a favor and get a Scangauge II and learn what to monitor. This small gauge costs less than $200 and can tell you everything that you will need to know except exhaust temps. For instance it will tell you when the FICM voltage is low which will cause injector failure or give you the temps on your oil and coolant to tell you that your oil cooler may be getting clogged causing the EGR cooler to fail thus allowing coolant into the combustion chamber which can lead to a blown head gasket. A coolant filter is also a good addition as it will help to keep the oil cooler from clogging. And DO NOT add a tuner for more power. As said before ALL makes have there problems whether Chevy,Dodge etc. find out what they are and then take the appropriate action. Even the "bullet proof" Allison has had issues. With all the regulations on cars and trucks changing constantly there are always going to be problems as WE are the guinea pigs and the ultimate testers.

I had a 2006 with the 6.0L. I had many problems - turbos, FICM, numerous engine codes. I just got rid of it and got the new 6.7L. The 6.7 has much more power. It is a beast.

Congradulations on the new truck. Those new Chevy's are awesome. Do you have any pictures?

Not every beach is the same... Silicate content and water content is different. I can drive in my beach at almost 30 PSI. And then go ten miles south and have to be near 20. Grover beach I have to be really low 15psi or so...

The key is to see how the tide line runs and try to drive to the tide line in a straight line... Little to no turning as it digs the tires....

I worked on the beach with a heavy jeep, it was a pain.. Your f350 has a wider stances than the jeep and has wider tires.... More weight too... I always keep 2x8 s in the truck so if I need to I can plank my way out of a rut.... 3.5-4ft sections will get you near the top of most ruts.. As long as you aren't throttle heavy

I can tell you of many problems with my Dodge Ram 3500 SRW Cummins.

The saying goes "I bought the Cummins and unfortunately the Dodge came with it."

In my case, the motor is without fault, or issues of any kind.

The Dodge has nickle and dimed me to the tune of thousands.

I finally (I HOPE), have taken care of all the issues with it,
FOR NOW !!
Just visit the CumminsForum and read about the problems that plague
the Ram diesels. Again, the Dodge half.

All I can say is Dodge quality sucks, but I really love the truck, so.......Dodge, Ford, GM ???????
