He did not provide any useful information. No actual weights!! That is similar to saying that a Toyota towed the space shuttle.
Given that the rear axle rating of the new 350/3500 SRW trucks are similar at around 7K and the trucks are close to 3K + or - on the rear axle, then you have around 4K for pin weight, hitch, boxes, gear, fire wood, etc in the bed of the truck.
With just my lightly loaded 29' trailer I was at 5920 on the rear axle. By the time I am ready to leave for Arizona I will most likely be close to 6500 pounds. So I might just be able to go as high as 3500 pounds of pin weight, but that will have me right at the 7K RGAWR. Tires are rated to 3640, so there is a small margin there.
My hitch and picture frame weigh 270 pounds, so something like the Andersen Aluminum hitch would buy a couple hundred pounds of capacity, except that the fact that I would not use one for reasons a have stated in the past.
