Hi All...What are some of your favorite campgounds in PA
One of my personal favorites is right in your backyard - Black Moshannon State Park.
Just came back from a week at Black Moshannon. Very nice park!
Be sure to stock up on supplies as stores (Weis, Walmart, etc) are about 30 mins one way in State College.
Just remember...quiet hours are over at 8am. The Penn Dot trucks loading the asphalt and the tractors, mowers, etc all start about 8:10am EVERY DAY! With the echo off the water, that means plan on being up and about by 8am or get awakened by "city style" noise ;)
Not bad as we are usually up by then, except the first morning we enjoy a slow start.
Oh- and if cell phones bug you, you will be in heaven with the limited coverage ;) - Reader1Explorer

Deer Meadows near Cook Forest State park. It`s also a Good Sam Park.
We camped at Deer Meadows in the fall for years w/ a pop up, but so much is seasonal sites that the sites available for the 5er are not our favorites.
We love Cook Forest State Park. - JimbeeExplorerOtter Lake!
Also, Promised Land State Park now has a few full hookup sites, the 1st Penn state park to put them in! - mosseaterExplorer IIPA State Parks are pretty great. Tough to nail down a favorite. We just came back from Shawnee and it rates up there pretty highly. Still love Sinnemahoning, Cowan's Gap, Greenwood Furnace, Poe Valley, and even a soft spot for Gifford Pinchot in our back yard. Heading to Hickory Run soon. Hope to find another fave!

I am looking for a pet friendly campground with a nice place to take the dog swimming with water and electric hookups. We would be going for over a week.
Thanks
To the best of my knowledge, none of the PA state parks have water hookup. They all have pet sites grouped together, so you're with other pet lovers. While they do have leash restrictions, I've never been busted for letting Lilly loose to run in a remote spot.
If you want a water hookup, maybe Raystown Lake would suit. I've never stayed there, but you couldn't ask for a bigger lake for your dog to swim in. - Doug33Explorer

Love the PA State Park system! All of the state parks where we have camped have been great! No, there is now sewer or water hookup which could be a pain for a long term stay but for 3-5 days they are very good. Clean showers, most have swimming, fishing, hiking, biking facilities and the price is right especially if your are Seniors.
Agreed - we stayed at Frenchtown Creek SP and really enjoyed it. I wish the NJ State Park system would at least provide electric like PA does. I can live without water and sewer for a few days, but can only camp without electric during the offseason. The battery works well for most things, but not heat or A/C. You can get away without A/C in the summer if you are in a tent or PU, but not a TT. And I don't feel like spending another grand for a quiet generator. - kimmeExplorerI am looking for a pet friendly campground with a nice place to take the dog swimming with water and electric hookups.
