It looks like what Ford did was give me the full benefit of the 700 pounds or so gained by the switch to aluminum when I chose the 5.0 V-8. My point is that I got a brand new pickup for around thirty thousand dollars that has a much higher payload than I hoped for. Thanks to competition, there are models for sale with payloads ranging from 1,200 pounds to over 3,000 pounds all branded as "Half tons". Read the stickers.
