- TurnThePageExplorerIn this case I don't think it's heavier. If it is, it's not by much. I think it's less than 200 lbs heavier than the Hemi. And I think the Ford is heavier than the RAM.
I also would expect the Ecoboost to win, but I have no problem with sub 9 second 0-60 times, especially if the fuel savings will adequately off set it. And that's what I'm waiting to learn.
Nice to see this thread has meandered back on track. - Turtle_n_PeepsExplorer:h
It makes no sense a truck with more than 125 more HP is slower in 0 to 60 times. I bet the oil burner is a lot more heavy too? :h
Something does not smell right with those times Don? - itguy08Explorer

Who is driving the Ecoboost? Grandma Moses? Even Motortrend puts the Ecodiesel at almost 2 secs slower than the Ecoboost.
Motor Trend #1
Motor Trend Got 6.6 to 60 in the Ecoboost Motor Trend 0-60, F150
Motor Trend got 8.9 in the Ecodiesel (Link Above) - Perrysburg_DodgExplorer

I just saw a new one yesterday next to me and smelled this smelly smell coming from the side pipe, than heard this sound like a box of big rattle snakes, it seam to shake a lot to, so I looked close and and than saw the smoke coming out of the side pipe, than I said to the wife this is a diesel that doesn't smoke, smell, shake, where is the oil on the gound, she said it is on the floor mats inside. So after all those little things we said we hope they can get it into the garage when they get home. I would be a shame for someone who spend all that money to leave it set in front of there trailer house or on the street.supercharged wrote:
Does it smell as bad
No it is not a coal fired steam engine. It is a modern diesel. - Fast_MoparExplorer

Fair enough but then nothing is the best then as someone could find some fault with it and not make it the best.
From the dictionary:of the most excellent, effective, or desirable type or quality: the best pitcher in the league | how to obtain the best results from your machine | her best black suit.

I guess I must be mistaken. I thought this was a thread about the Ram 1500 Ecodiesel. I think I made a wrong turn somewhere. - HybridhunterExplorer

Hmmm. Back to trucks for a second.....
A couple posters made the point that comparing 240 hp (boring), to 360 hp is not reasonable. Lets compare the base engines from the Ram, or F150 to the Eco diesel.... As always, the luddites will be scared of the rpms the gassers run, but the fact is, the eco-diesel is MINIMUM $4K more to buy, Diesel is ALWAYS 15% more expensive most places I go, and even the base engines have 300hp, and they are faster with a load or without. Mileage will be more comparable as well.
I'll take a sub 8 second 0-60, 6K+ tow rating, and a higher payload the F150 offers, for almost $5K less, and go hog wild with the pile of cash I saved.
Hate to rain on your parade but the Eco-Diesel is only a $2850 up charge over the Hemi your pile of cash just got a whole lot smaller. LMAO
don
Dude, learn how to read. I was clear that I was not comparing to the Hemi. So that's a $4k difference right there. Plus the $500 for the trans. If you get certain models (ie: cherry pick), the added cost of the Hemi is already there.
So how much is $4500 plus tax? If you don't want to look foolish, don't jump up and down and proclaim something that is incorrect.
In Canada, its over $5K. - itguy08Explorer

In your opinion itguy08, if something is the best selling, it IS simply the best. Ok, you're certainly entitled to your opinion. I certainly don't agree.

#1 would fit the most sales as it is the most desirable type...
Now your best is not going to be my best but when the collective makes something have the most sales, that makes it the best.I ask you this. Is everything in your house and garage the best selling items in their respective categories? I'm going to go out on a limb and say probably not. So, why would YOU settle for anything less than the best (your quote: best selling = the best)?
Cause I bought what I liked. I'm under no delusion what I own is the best. Some things are and some are not. It really doesn't matter to me.Me, I much prefer to enjoy the spice of life and have a say about what is the "best" regardless what anybody or the numbers say.
MMMM spice. :)Have a good weekend!
Thanks. You too. Best is an interesting philosophical question along the lines of "if a tree falls in the forest.".
