The OP is correct. the 3/4 and 1T trucks (both gas and diesel) do have hill start assist and grade braking where I don't know of any 1/2T's that do. They do have tow/haul function that changes the trans shift points but I don't think that includes grade braking or hill start assist. I may be wrong but never noticed those features till I went to 3/4T. Not to mention better load capacity and braking. There are many 1/2T's that can tow the load but the advantages of the larger trucks does make for a more pleasant experience when towing.
