There are many 1/2T's that can tow the load but the advantages of the larger trucks does make for a more pleasant experience when towing.
actually ALL gas vehicles have grade braking. It is called compression, and lower gears. it's just the law of physics. Of course a V6 has less braking than a V8, again physics
Diesels on the other hand. Unless there is a add on, like a exhaust brake, or tranny brake, or some other engine brake. Have no natural downhill breaking. while they run on compression, there is none on the back side. So a add on is necessary to give them the same benefits that gas engines have naturally.
