Isn't grade braking in TH mode basically the ECU telling the tranny to shift down?
You could do the same just using the toggle on the shifter. Coming from a diesel with an exhaust brake and towing the same weight trailer I can say one thing for sure. Grade braking is nothing like an exhaust brake. While I don't have any trouble towing with my gaser, I do have to work the brakes more with it.
