Ford 6.7L 1050 ft lbs TQ at 1,600 rpm, 475 HP at 2,800 rpm

We’ve spent some time talking about larger trucks but like one of the earlier posters indicated isn’t it really Gross Combination Actual Weight divided by Hp or divided by torque? It’s a simple way to compare.

The other thing is I’m in agreement w the talk about getting near the max tow ratings of the truck then doing the testing up the IKE. One of TFL’s tests had a dually Ram against a 2500 Chevy. The test was limited by the 2500 tow ratings. That was a waste of time. Both drive trains were capable to tow 2 times more than the test and they came out essentially even. Duh.

All of the trucks are amazing these days, How many RVers are going to tow 35000 lbs? Nearly none is probably the answer.

Ya, things do like to fall off these 6.7 Cummins. Had a drive pully come undone all six bolts either broke off or came out, luckily nothing got tore up or went thru the radiator . Truck was pretty tough to drive with no power brakes or steering .

Could be but my diesel mechanic said he has never had a 6.7 apart for repairs, just maintenance and to make stuff fall off.

I totally disagree. My dad has a 2000 Powerstroke that takes a half a county to turn around because of the front leafs and you can hardly carry on a conversation going down the highway. But that truck new for free? Yeah, I'd save the money I spent on my truck and invest it and happily take that old 7.3 with the crappy 4 speed trans. It may be a bit crude but it's reliable and even tows relatively well, and I think that's a pretty good looking vintage for Fords.

Bought new ,and drove for nearly 16 years the early 99 7.3 Superduty . Great truck. IMO still the best looking body style out there for a 4 door crew cab short bed, but thats about where it stops . Just no comparison to these newer trucks, comfort power etc.

Except when it comes time for repairs; the 7.3L will cost much less than most everything on the 6.7L.....;)

I started with a 1999 SD, 2000 SD,2006 SD, and current 2015 SD, each has been an improvement over the prior and the 2015 by far the quietest and pulls the best. Loved my 7.3's but they just don't compare to the 6.7.

Well said.... one day last year I had to drive our 02 7.3 super duty and that drive was an eye opener and made me really appreciate my ‘12 6.7 super duty.

I tow with a 2001 super duty with the zf6. The only thing I wish I could change would be to make it quieter. One of these days I will add some of that sound absorbing material in the interior and that should help. I’m going for a 10 hour drive Friday, I’ll bring ear plugs.
