Ford 6.7l Fuel Filter Change-Do You Do It Yourself?

Are many of you doing those fuel filter changes yourself? I've watched a YouTube video and it doesn't look that difficult. Had mine changed for the first time in May and about croaked when I got the bill. Are you using Motorcraft filters? Looks like Amazon has a decent price.

I will probably have my mechanic do the oil changes since I get the tires rotated at each change (5000-6000 miles).

Thanks.

I don't do my own maint because i cant it afford it, but more so because I hate sitting around a dealers waiting area for 2 hours while they pretend to need all that time to change 3 filters and oil!

If you don't do the maintenance and can't afford it.......?

You need to re-read that quote in context.
  • I have the dealer change my filters every 3rd oil change which is 15,000 miles. I don't drive a lot of miles so that's once every 20 months that I change them.
  • I agree with the comments about doing it right. I was remiss in checking the oil in my last truck, a 05 Dodge diesel until coming home from Texas last year, 1500 miles into the oil change. Wow, I was two quarts low. I filled her up and went on down the road. After another 6000 miles, the oil level was still fine -- hmm. Took it in for another oil change at the dealer. Checked it later in the garage the next day -- two quarts low.

I'm still too lazy to change it myself -- this truck will be at the Ford dealer, but I understand that the oil change people are at the low end of the greasy ladder.
