Ford markets the F150 super crew 3.5 EB 6750/6900/7000 GVWR but have those small 3800 RAWR = around 1400-1500 lbs (or less) in the bed before exceeding axle and tire capacities.

Choose the models with a 4050/4550/4800 RAWR for the most actual in the bed payloads.

You can no longer get a 4050 lb rear axle in a CREW cab. When Ford moved to aluminum bodies in '15 they reduced the rating on the 4050 lb axle to 3800 lbs. They also reduced the GVWR. In the pre- aluminum trucks you could get 7200 lbs GVWR and 7700 lbs with max tow which gave you 500 lbs more payload. Now max tow gives you a GVWR of 7070 lbs with reduced axle ratings and a payload that doesn't reflect what it could be due to the weight savings.

A 157" CREW max tow gives you 7070 lbs GVWR, RAWR = 3800 lbs. Payload around 1700 lbs for a nicely equipped Lariat (max 2060 lbs).
The Heavy duty payload package is now:
7600# GVWR 4550# RAWR max payload is 2400#
7850# GVWR 4800# RAWR max payload is 2650#

FYI, the heavy duty rear axle is not heavy duty anymore. The 7 lugs are gone. The axles and axle bearing are identical to the max tow axle. Both are 34 splines. The differences are: the hd rear holds slightly more fluid and has a 3.73 gearset.
If you want a true hd axle you will have to get a Raptor rear. It has 35 splines.
