I was going to go with the Ford based solely on the numbers, but decided on the Chev (with Max Trailering) since the fuel economy numbers look better (for the 5.3) than the EB and also I really enjoyed the truck's creature comforts (mine is also a daily driver). My TT is also GVWR of 6000, so the lower payload number isn't a problem.
If you are thinking of going as high as 8000, then you will want either the Ford EB or a 2500, but I definitely feel your pain about daily driving a 3/4 ton with gas and diesel prices as steep as they are for daily driving. You've probably noticed, as I have, that most of us from "the frozen North" try to get the most out of our 1500s while our US brethren are more likely to go to a bigger truck (unless you're from Alberta ;) )
The Fords should be coming down in price in a few months because the new redesigned '15s will be out and they will be trying to get the '14s off the lot. If you are a Ford fan I would hold off so the '14 EB is closer to what you want to pay.
Good luck with your decision, and try to fight new truck fever until you get the best deal. I couldn't, but there is still hope for you! LOL
