I feel you pain. I have been researching this vehicle for the last few days. The F150 Eco super crew 157inch wheelbase with the heavy duty package, 373 rear end and max tow option.
max tow cap 11300
GVWR 8200
Payload 2620
Curb weight 5380 give or take with options
GCWR 17100
Priced at 35000.00 far cry from a f250
Wonder how the ride is with the HD package. Hard to justify a the f250 when only used 6 to 10 times a year for towing. I am sure someone will talk down to me as they did you when we are only looking for some FRIENDLY advise from the people with the experience.
I just built and priced an 2014 F-250XL crew cab 6.2L 6sp auto with all the tow items, cloth seats plus power windows and locks for 34,953. For the same money it is a far cry from any F-150.
This is where the real decision and compromise must be made. Apparently price is not the real deal breaker.
The decision is do you want the better daily driver and compromise the towing experience or do you want the ultimate tow vehicle and compromise the daily drive?
Since this is a towing forum my vote is to get the better tow vehicle.
Ultimately it is the bigger brakes, axle and suspension that lead to toward the 3/4 ton vehicle.
X2
Way too many want a DD that rides like a Cadillac and tows like a Kenworth! It is not going to happen!!
My 01 Ram 2500 has a camper package, so is really a 3500 SRW, doesn't ride too bad, speed bumps are a B****, but on the normal street not all that bad.
Towing like a rock!! stops great, goes great, handles great and gets good mileage.
