I don't have experience to have an opinion on your situation, but I can say that with a load near max payload, this truck feels much stronger than my previous truck did at its payload. Now, that might not mean a thing, but seat of the pants tells me this Ford is rated much more conservatively than my other truck.
The EB is really jaw dropping at how easily it tows. With my 4000# trailer there are not many signs that I'm even towing. Other than the mpg's of course. :)
The EB option was only $1100 when I shopped. Not sure how you're coming up with $4000?
Yes, max payload is available without max tow but only with the 5.0. Thats why the ecoboost is $3500 more. It adds max tow and xlt convenience pkg.
