Curious what happened at +400k miles?dodge guy wrote:

I know of a hot shotter who got +400k miles on his 6.2 flat bed truck. IT_Burnout wrote:

Some on this forum don't understand the similarities between drag racing and towing. Let me point them out for you:
The truck that puts the most HP down to the ground is the one that is going to win a drag race AND tow up a steep mountain at a faster pace AND merge into traffic on a crowded freeway at a decent speed.
If you live and only tow in Ks you more than likely don't care. If you live where I do and have to pull steep mountains to get out of the state on most roads; it matters!
This happens on every performance test on this forum. And it is not like the title was misleading. Not only do some not care about this data they care so little to not only open the thread but also post on it.
mich800 thanks for the morning smile. Your comment is right on point.
Agree and well said....- memtbExplorerSome people just like competition.... Doesn't matter what form. :D From Archery to Zydeco...Mumbley Peg to Ferret Legging! ;) Human kind survived/evolved/thrived because of our competitive nature. However, our existence "is" threatened with the Millennial Generation !!!! :o

By the video the Ford gets better mpg when towing. About the same mpg when empty. Longevity is probably not relevant since most people will trade long before either truck is wore out. Maintenance cost over 200k miles might be a better indicator. What surprised me was my old 6.8 Ford was not that much worse solo. At 75 mph I usually get 13.7

And watched the video. LOL!!!!
I was surprised that the Ford had it right from the start.
We just got in a brand new F-250 XL 4-wd with the 6.2 and my Chevy feels stronger from a dead start but the Ford feel like it would catch up fast and leave me behind.
I guess I need to find a stretch of road and find out.
The Ford sits really high which I don't care for and the bed rails are even higher than my Chevy, I really dislike that about both of them.
The Ford's interior seems really busy too.
I marvel at small the insides of the regular cabs are these days. - IT_BurnoutExplorer

I didn't even watch it. I figured Ford won by who posted it. No brainer.

So you're going to tell me the fastest quarter mile can always tow the best. That's just wrong. Could it be that the ALUMINUM Ford, which weighs 400 lbs less according to the video, won due to a weight advantage? When the Chevy was 600 lbs lighter than the Ram (when they did the same test) they added 3 big guys in the Ram and used one skinny guy in the Chevy to equalize weight. The Ram still won but it was more apples to apples. Why didn't they add 2 good size guys to the Ford to equalize weight some? Would it have made a difference? I guess we'll never know, but it sure makes their test meaningless in my book.
So if they both pull a trailer of the same weight and the Ford is 400 lbs lighter who do you think is going to get to the top of the mountain faster? Or merge at a faster speed?
So you want to penalize the Ford by adding weight because they did a better job in the power to weight ratio area? What the.............????
It is what it is. Bottom line is, the Ford preformed better. And by quite a margin for an 1/8 of a mile or so.
