Ford F450 diesel 4:30 gears

I just bought a 2009 Ford F450, 6.0 turbo diesel with 4:30 rear end. I was wondering if there are any F 450 owners out there who can give me an approximate MPG towing a 5th wheel around 15,000 lbs, and also answer some questions about the trailer brake system

  • Does it really matter at this point? ;)

You got the truck, you got the #15k 5th wheel... Hook it up and tow it a couple hundred miles and calculate the mpg's... :)

When you get to your destination, ENJOY!

    That's all I do when I'm getting 10 mpg towing a little #5000 TT with an F150..

    Happy Camping.

  • Your 2009 F-450 should have a 6.4 in it. Ford stopped the 6.0 in 2008. Have you checked the VIN # to see what engine it has. The 6.0 should get around 10 to 13 MPG pulling a trailer. The 6.4 should get a little more.
    I have a 2008 28ft E-450 class C motorhome with the 6.0 and I get about 13 to 13.5 MPG. and 12.5 pulling a toad.
