And by lowering the GVWR 500-700# they can get away with lighter components. For example the HD Payload axles/wheels are no longer 7 Lug.
But it looks like the rear GAWR with HD Payload option and 18" wheels still is 4800#. With 17" wheels it drops to 4550#.
So not only is payload increased, but rear GAWR "headroom" is increased with the HD Payload trucks.
But for my 4x2 SCab EcoB (no HD Payload) the rear GAWR is 4050#. In 2015 that will be only 3800#. So probably no change in rear GAWR "headroom".
