- brulazExplorerAnd by lowering the GVWR 500-700# they can get away with lighter components. For example the HD Payload axles/wheels are no longer 7 Lug.
But it looks like the rear GAWR with HD Payload option and 18" wheels still is 4800#. With 17" wheels it drops to 4550#.
So not only is payload increased, but rear GAWR "headroom" is increased with the HD Payload trucks.
But for my 4x2 SCab EcoB (no HD Payload) the rear GAWR is 4050#. In 2015 that will be only 3800#. So probably no change in rear GAWR "headroom". - brulazExplorer

I wonder if they'll keep the gvwr the same as the old trucks. If so, it coupled with a 500-700lb curb weight reduction could yield some very good payload numbers without having to get the HD payload pkg.
The latest review said just that. GVWR stays the same, but payload jumps due to lighter curb weight.
They've updated that article with a photo of a chart of the 4x2 weights, GVWR, GAWR. The GVWRs all look lighter. And payloads maybe a bit more, 100-200# ?.
First info I've seen on this. Too bad they didn't get the 4x4 table too.
For Example my 4x2 SCab EcoB used to have 7500# GVWR and 2080# Max Payload (Catalogue). It's now 6900# GVWR and 2280# Max Payload. - coolbreeze01ExplorerToo bad Ford didn't warrant my last one 30 years ago.
- glazierExplorer III like it
- Charlie_D_ExplorerStill got the same old front doors they have had for what seems forever. I prefer a column stick rather than a floor shift.
- hone_eagleExplorerGood question ^^
- GordonThreeExploreris it 50k bumper to bumper, or powertrain? Chrysler and GM at 100k powertrain already, right?
