BTW, if your alt only puts out 13.8 then there's something wrong with it. S/B more like 14.2~14.8 depending on temperature.
I and many other people I know have used 12V fridges for many years.
14.x normal load, 13.6-14.2 or so under a 30 amp load charging batteries, truck AC on or fans etc would be pretty much average.
In my 45+ years of rving etc I have never ran into someone using a 12vdc fridge... We do lots of runs on our camper/truck camping etc... The camper has almost 200,000 miles on it. in 13 years.
Very few that run an absorb fridge on 12vdc.. I'm talking Truck campers...
