Will these all-new Ford SRW trucks start coming with 11.5" rear axles to match GM and Dodge?
I don't know the specific details but I have seen pictures of both F250 and F350 SRW models and the F350 has a completely different differential.
That would get my attention so long as it pertains to the SRW model (which with the SuperDuty has always had a different rear diff to the dually). ksss wrote:
I am not sure when enough is enough as far as power, but I does not appear that anyone wants to back out. I think GM would have liked to and while they perform well in the real world, they cant win the battle in ads on TV and print at their current output. So the big power show will continue. I have to think that when they all hit 1000 pounds of torque and 500ish hp that they will largely call that good (give or take a 5-10 hp or torque bump here and there. I also wish they would spend some time on improving the mpg's but that does not seem to be a big issue, especially currently.
Next couple months will be interesting in the HD pickup world. I would have never guessed even 5 years ago that you could buy a pickup off the showroom floor with these kinds of projected numbers.
Rumor has it there will be an all new Duramax engine that will be designed for more HP and Torque.
I also think the 6.7 cummins is maxed out on HP with the current configuration.transferred wrote:

That's the beauty of the aluminum body panels is that Ford reinvested the weight savings back into the drivetrain and frame.
My experience with the more Horse Power and Torque my '12 model has over the '05 model is it allows for a easier towing and non towing experience, but it's nice to have the power for acceleration when needed and for some of those pesky types who need to be put into their place. You know those types... [emoticon]
BTW... Last Sunday I drove one of our 7.3 Super Duty's and boy I sure wouldn't want to go back to that power level after being spoiled by the 6.7PSD. [emoticon]
I'm not saying take power out, I'm saying enough is enough. Also what you are saying is that they used aluminum panels to get their strength up to par with the other two of the big three and still keep it light enough to not get any heavier. Ford was already heavier than GM and Ram. So they have caught up with old technology. We will just have to wait for the next chapter I guess. transamz9 wrote:

OH, I don't know. Maybe stuff like on board air systems that can air up tires or maybe run small air tools. Have you looked at all the wasted space in front of and behind the rear tires? Make nice places for tool storage or maybe with the added fuel economy they could give added fuel capacity.
That stuff is cool until you realize the bite it takes out of payload capacity. More power doesn't often add to the weight of the truck, but cool doodads will.
OH, but power does my friend. They have to build the truck to be able to handle the power. My 2005 Ram weighs 6700# wet with me and momma in it. My 2013 weighs 8000#. The stuff I said, most people put in the trucks aftermarket anyway. Tool boxes and fuel tanks. I'm just saying that they could give the options to integrate them into the trucks. Just think, have an aux tank and tool box and still have the whole bed left.

The Ford dealer where I trade said the rumor was but not confirmed yet that the Ford Power Stroke would have 500hp and 1000 lbs torque.
I figure they will go for the 1000 lbs of torque to be the first. To get to 500 HP is going to be a good jump from the 440 now. Going to be interesting to see.
Did you happen to notice on the one you saw if the overall height had changed from present? I was wondering if it looks like it will still fit in a garage door height wise.
My current Dually is a 2014 4X2 F350 due to my driveway being steep and I need to keep the front of my Montana down as low as I can to keep the rear of it up so it will not drag. The F450 I saw was the White one that has been shown on all of the pictures from Ford. It was a 4x4 of course and was taller than mine. It did not look any taller than my dads 2016 F350 4x4 with 20" wheels. - transamz9Explorer

500hp is very easily doable but keeping it cool and all the drive train cool on a 10 mile hike up some steep roads at GCWR is the challenge. They already have two radiators I believe just to cool what they have.
