Hmmm, I pulled a 9K 27' fiver with my 2500HD D'max and ALWAYS got between 12 and 13mpgs. Not sure I'm much impressed with 9!!
.........I will say that the owner if the F150 gets 24 mpg empty he stated with around 9 mpg pulling. He seems to love it since he’s owned 4 others Ford F-150 trucks in the past. I still think these 1/2 diesel trucks have a place in the market. If fuel or when fuel prices increase, you may see more of them sold. Anyway looking forward to this truck hitting the market.
True for sure, I think the benefit would be a smaller camper. His towing was through the mountains from the north to Florida so I’m thinking they may affect it as well. - kaydeejayExplorer

Putting an inline six in sideways might be an issue in sedans. - LynnmorExplorer

The Impala has the 3.6 liter DOHC V6 and the Buick the great old 3.8 liter 90 degree Buick V6. Both great cars and I agree...a inline diesel turbo six would be a great addition.

Now GM could resurrect a little interest in Sedans. Mid and full size sedans with a fuel sipping smooth as silk inline baby diesel.
Definitely impressive.
Wish my company truck had one. I'd love 25mpg vs 15.
I agree. I wish GM would show some interest in sedans. We have a '15 Impala (Opel designed newer design) and an '07 Buick LaCrosse...6 seater.

With both GM and Ford dropping their sedans, I'm checking out Japanese manufacturers...either a Nissan Maxima 3.5 liter V6 or the Honda Accord, Sport model with a 2 liter 4 cylinder, turbo and 10 speed automatic.
I've driven and had vehicles since 1965, mostly GM, some Ford and very few imports. But with the big 2 dropping sedans which is what my wife and I prefer...we won't be leaving GM/Ford as much as they have left us...consumers who prefer good sized, sedans.
Apology to OP, if I went astray on the topic, but I'm still burned up about GM and Ford cutting out sedans...which IMO, they have left wither on the vine for years now. Funny how the imports still are planning to continue to crank them out. - parker_roweExplorerSo it looks like you will at least have to go with the LT trim for it to be an option.
No baby diesel in the lower trims, for now. Judging by how they handle the 6.2L, that may be how it stays. - kaydeejayExplorer

The US is slow to get with the program. A 1/2 ton diesel is a great idea for towing rigs that aren't too heavy. I will probably end up there sometime in the future. For now I am sticking with the one ton 7.3.
- kw_00ExplorerReally excited in seeing this engine make its debut. Impressive numbers for sure and the inline configuration is a huge plus. I’m sure it will perform very well. I hope that it has great payload numbers. I did meet an F150diesel owner the other day while camping. He pulls a 9k fifth wheel with it. Yes I know that’s a lot with only a payload of 1309 lbs. so I hope GM squeezes more them their truck. I will say that the owner if the F150 gets 24 mpg empty he stated with around 9 mpg pulling. - And it's been added to the compare models system on Chevy's website.
WOOHOO!!!!!!!! (it doesn't show up in the "build and price" system yet)
I've been contemplating this or a Colorado Duramax as a daily driver - ksssExplorerThere is for sure a sweet spot for these half ton diesels. Too much power and the mileage sucks and requires more HD running gear (Nissan). Too little power and you cant pull anything thing. So I like the numbers that this came in at, but the mpg is also very important in this segment. So when the real world mpg numbers come in, that will be the deciding factor on how successful the straight six will be.
