And that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I'd love to buy everything made in Canada, but I'd have to take a 40 yrs step backwards in living quality, back when an electric fan or transistor radio was a "major purchase".

Not to mention the heath and environmental toll a country must take on, in order to be an "industrial giant". Wasn't that long ago with the Thames turned purple...
