GM wasn't the one dragging it's feet.
There was an agreement between Ford and GM about 2-3 years ago to release the new figures. GM released theirs. It was actually posted here IIRCC. The HDs did very well, but heir 1/2 tons took a big hit.. Ford chickened out, and GM quickly recalled their figures. They couldn't face the sales hit they would have taken with Ford still advertising the old numbers against their new numbers.

The tow rating of the 3/4 ton Duramax dropped by 4K in the numbers GM published. Everything else did very good.
