I knew that the Nissan Titan XD was not a true 3/4tn. model like the GM, and that the 5.0 Cummins engine was not as powerful as the Duramax.
I just wondered if the commercials about the Nissan were stretching it about the hauling and pulling capabilities. Good to have folks like you out there who have a good deal more experience with this stuff than I do. I appreciate all of your input.

No doubt the Nissen/5.0 Cummins is a strong performer for a 1/2 ton truck. Its problems is the small 4800 rawr that will be carrying a load. This equates to around the mid teens for a payload.
The 2500 GM is a much heavier duty truck. With its 6200 rawr they can have around 3000-3200 lb payload in the bed.
All payloads are depending on a trucks empty axle loads.
Use this GM site for configuring your truck. Also use the weight calculator for figuring each trucks std equipment along with all its optional equipment. This will give you a close idea how much payload the truck has.
