That's due to the Big 3's use of the "artificial" 10,000 GVWR on their 3/4-ton trucks. The RAWR rating reflects the true capability of the F250 vs. XD. Don't have the exact numbers handy, but the F250's RAWR is 6,000-6,500 lbs. vs. the XD's 4,900 lbs. Since the vast majority of payload is carried on the rear axle, one can reasonably assume the F250, in reality, can carry 1,100 to 1,600 lbs. more payload. Very significant difference.
No doubt this much higher RAWR is due in-part to the Big 3's use of the
same full-floating axles on their 3/4 and 1-ton trucks vs. the semi-floating axle used on the XD.
