Little off topic....errr I mean back on topic.
Have any of you naysayers actually looked at a new XD diesel?
No denying it's no current generation HD, but it certainly looks a good bit heavier duty than the half ton competition.
I think Nissan hit the nail on the head for the "tweener" truck that is also a proven name in the diesel market, backed by a rock solid trans.
Have heard it for years, on the inner webs, lol. People wanted a 1/2 ton diesel with more power than the gassers. Ram was first and concentrated on fuel Econ. Nissan is in 2nd with more power and capability.
No, it's no magical 25-30 mpg Eco d, but it's got more snort and a much heavier chassis. Power might not seem "awesome", but I bet they can bump it up easy if they want to or actually get some direct competition. No sense blowing their wad first year.
GM didn't give the Dmax 360/650 in 2001, even though it was only a tune away and totally reliable power even in a LB7. They just stayed at or above the competition as needed.
Would I ever buy one? Not likely. I need a heavier truck than that......once in a while. If I didn't need a heavier truck, and actually would own a Jap truck, it would be a contender. Just like it will be for many I think.
I agree! Any doubt is put rest after you actually hitch up an tow with it.
