In your mind the only true diesel? It's because your mind in tightly closed and brainwashed and been blinded by your own lack of knowledge. Is an inline 6 the only true diesel? Better not say that to Cummins because they make the V8 diesel that's going into a couple new pickups! Must not be a true diesel then? Hello!
The Duramax 6.6 diesel V8 has now been made and sold in GM trucks with nearly the same number of their diesel engines as Cummins has in Dodge/Rams and has done it in about 1/2 the years it took Cummins in Dodge/Rams. You need to do a little research and actually learn something. Just think how smart and actually informed you could be! - larry_barnhartExplorer

Not if you check out any recent comparison tests. They are dead last.
The D/A combo is still a good one, but the power numbers need an upgrade.
Why????

The Dmax is down on power compared to the 14 Ram and 15 Ford. Last time they tested all 3 Ram had the lowest power. Now Chevy is the lowest and likely to get beat by Ford and Ram.
I know all of the deal but why was isn't what GM has to offer enough. I don't see many rv owners going very slow where we travel and I have never felt our power wasn't enough but I don't race when towing. It will be interesting. I guess cummins doesn't agree about the inline engine being the only engine to buy or sell.

Buy a GM if you want but I have a feeling they are about to file bankruptcy again. Also they have been known to not back up there warranty. Who cares about these wars. My Ram has 370 hp and 800lb of torque. That is more than I need. They are going to keep on and these little trucks will have as much torque as a semi. Just crazy if you ask me. And by the way there is only one true diesel out there in my mind and it is an inline 6 called a Cummins. There is a reason they use it in the bigger trucks. Real diesels are inline 6, not V8.
What about the 400HP 4 cly Cat? Is it not a real diesel? Use it in big trucks too. - edatlantaExplorer III personally don't care where they go with hp/torque ratings. My "old" 2006 Duramax LBZ has 360hp and 650ftlb of torque if my memory is correct. What I do know is is tows my 5'er down the road perfectly with cruise set and rarely ever down shifts on a hill. I get 12-12.5 mpg on average towing and the big one "It Is Paid For".
So for anyone who just has to have the latest "big" ratings, even if not needed, be my guest. I'll stick with my old one. It does just fine.
Now what to do with all of this extra cash each month? Maybe buy a little more fuel so I can travel a bit more and have a nice dinner out more often. Works for me. YMMV - parkersdadExplorerBuy a GM if you want but I have a feeling they are about to file bankruptcy again. Also they have been known to not back up there warranty. Who cares about these wars. you really need to watch H&S' dyno videos to see how much power is needed to gernade a ford/gm powertrain. - hone_eagleExplorerAt some point longevity is going to suffer, all this power will reduce the life of all these engines.
- Bionic_ManExplorerCompetition is good for all the manufactures. It seems the day of a 500/1000 HD are getting close.
That said, for those that always have to have the biggest, baddest on the market, you will need to continue opening up your pocket book.

GMs 6.0 is one of the most problem free, lowest cost of ownership engines out there. Plus when put up against the competition , they keep up real well. Many tests out there have proven it.
I agree until you get the part about them keeping up real well. The 6.0 is a total dog compared to the Hemi 6.4 and Ford 6.2. It's no surprise.... it's by far the oldest technology of the 3 and I'm sure GM/Chevy will soon have a player in the game to compete.
I'm not a brand basher at all as I've owned all of the big 3 at times over the last 10 years and would gladly buy any of them again if it fit my needs. A buddy tows the same weight with his 6.0 Chevy that I do with my 6.4 Hemi and it's not even close.
