- zcookiemonstarExplorerI put the silent armor wranglers on my 01 Ram 2500 a few years ago. I don't have a camper yet but I have hauled a lot of heavy stuff like full loads of dirt and machinery. Tires held up fine under load with 80 psi. I did loose about 1 mpg from the old tires but don't remember what they were but they were the same size.
- Buzzcut1Nomad IIhaven't run them but these are my 3 year old Toyo Open Country HT with tuff duty
285/75R16 with over 40,000 miles on them. all with the TC in the bed and about 8,000 of those with a 9000 pound horse trailer also hooked up. - Carb_CleanerExplorerI recently installed a set of the Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar, LT285/65R-18, E rated (3,640 pounds). They're a new tire, released last March, I believe. Slightly different tread pattern than the Silent Armours and a longer tread warranty, to 60k miles. I ordered them from TireRack, along with new rims.
They ride nice. Not a lot of flex, that I can tell. About my only experience with them is driving to NH to pick up our new truck camper. The truck was either totally empty, or totally loaded. No experience with day-to-day driving. I did notice they're not loud. With the windows up, my stock exhaust was louder. Our trip home from NH with the camper involved driving through a freezing rain and ice storm. Salt trucks were out in force on the highways and I never felt a slip or wander. The roads into our stick house were a little ugly, but I didn't have any trouble locked in four wheel. Our driveway was a sheet of ice, so I had to park in the snow/ice/slush at the top of the hill. Granted, I was in 4 wheel and there was over a ton in the bed of the truck, but the tires didn't slip. - rabconExplorer IIII had them on my F-350, Put about 50,000 's on them had 2 side wall bubbles . Goodyear replaced them with a tread depressation. about -$100. Each time it happened it was when the camper was on and it was on the rear. The camper is a Lance 1030 and the truck was a SRW. The third time it happened Goodyear would not do anything. They where to old , 5 years old and it was one of the replacements that went bad again. The tire size was 325/70/18 .The third time it was tread seperation on a front tire and was in the middle of the tire about the size of a base ball . $325 pr tire. I will be needing tires again on my GMC but they will not be Goodyears. I will do some research on here and then deside. Thinking Toyo's And I was running 70 lbs. in whem . the tire max was 65 but I ask the Goodyear Dealer about the right pressure and the Goodyear Dealer said to run the pressure that was on the door. :h
- ejfranzExplorerI had silent armour pros 265 / 75 / 16s. Great winter tire, but did not last when I used them in the summer.
Did not notice any increased sidewall stiffness. - okan-starExplorerHad silent armor wranglers on a dually , sold it before I had 15k on them, seemed good
Have silent armor wranglers on a SRW now , 265/75r16 e rated , no noticeable sidewall stiffness diffrence between previous tires , toyos , brigestone, bfg ...
Had to have 3 of 4 replaced , wouldnt roadforce balance , defective.
Since then no problems
At about 30k now , not to much tread left ,tread is getting marginal in snow , will have to replace soon
I got them at a good price at the time , I would`nt pay more if I was to replace them than other similar tires - artguysExplorerKevlar as a ply material has been around since the late 60s or early 70's. Mostly, early on used in bias ply belts. I'm old and snarky but that's
my reccolection as I didn't do any search to back it up.
