harbor freight 2200watt generator
Dose anybody know anything about this or dose anybody have one yet. I compared the specs to Honda 2000i pretty close. Its on sale for $499 that's a deal. Just wanted to see what you guys think. htt...

3dB increase == twice the POWER (not twice as LOUD)
5dB increase ~~ almost 4 times the POWER (still not 4 times as loud)
dB is logarithmic, not linear (ie 2x), the human ear is neither
(I made my living for many years worried about changes in sound level, trust me on this)
Am I correct in saying that the distance from the source affects the measurement and that there probably is no way of knowing the distance that harbor freight and honda were when the took the measurements?
When I compare specs of two products and see one is 3dB louder how do I correlate that to how much more annoying the louder one will be?
I guess I'm asking how do I make the best use of the dB spec?
