One of our rigs at the CG we stayed at this weekend needed to. It was a Georgetown Class A toyhauler.They had some sort of serious malfunction with their door latch mechanism, locking them inside. One of them climbed out an exit window and dropped the rear door for access.Once the mobile RV tech arrived, they removed the pins from the door hinges. And they still had to do some sort of cutting inside to get the door to release from the latch.We had to pack up and leave before we could see if they had a working door again.

We open it up for fresh air all the time. I aint climbing out of it unless the place is on fire.

Our current camper is unusual. It's only 25' long, but actually has two doors.It does have an emergency window, but I've not tested it in a long time. I will after reading your post, thank you.My last RV was a 36' Class A. Only one door, and the emergency window in the bedroom was a LONG way from the ground! A rope ladder would have probably been a smart investment.

I have two doors too, so a stuck one should not be an issue. I did try the emergency window once, but it was a pain to put back. I suspect in a real panic situation it could be kicked out pretty easily.

I can see myself getting more hurt trying to climb out of it and land safely on the ground than to fight through whatever is going on and go out the door. It's a nice thought, but I won't be testing it anytime soon, lol.

I test it every time we go camping. I also make the kids try it out every time since it's on their side. They don't actually open it all the way, so no harm no foul.The weird thing I noticed is that I have to do it first every time because it gets stuck. Once I open it then the kids are able to open it. Otherwise they can't open it. No idea why, it's not air pressure since the door is open.

Like fire extinguishers, I've never tested the emergency windows to see if I could get through them. I'll just run to the shower and turn the water on. ;)

We open it all the time for ventilation. Doubtful that I could actually exit through it....

We tested it accidentally a few weeks ago. The kids unlatched it before leaving the house and I saw it flopping around when taking a turn. Now I know it works and that I need to check that latch before leaving the driveway.

We have 2 doors, but I frequently test \ use our emergency exit windows. With 2 doors I can't ever imagine going out a window vs. a door, but its always good to have options.

I always make sure the kids know how to work them too. If they ever have to use them I hope I am on the ground to help pull them out, because no matter how you do it, climbing out the window would hurt....

We were told not to mess with the Emergency window unless it was a real emergency. On our Rocky, the window was designed to just drop down to the ground and a major pain to get the replacement put in. We never needed it.

I was thinking the same thing about myself. We have two doors and three of the emergency windows. They are usually open, at least during the day, so I know they are functioning properly.

Best need for an emergency window opposite the doors is the trailer next to you being on fire and it is on the door side of your unit. As close as they are you need to get out the OTHER side.

Haven't tried ours but really think it would go if I needed to. Have friends who tried theirs and never got it to seat correctly again. Don't want to make problems for myself,

Chracatoa, spray a dry silicone lubricant on that seal and also on the hinges (if you have a hinge-type window). That should stop it from sticking and should result in the window exit opening much easier.
