I purchased a used 2009 Timberlodge SKY30 a few months ago. The slide motor has completely went out. I have called the dealership I bought it from and they need the part or at least a picture of it to order a new one. The problem is, I live in Alaska and the trailer is in LA. I have no one to do this for me and I really need to get this part ordered. There is such minimal information on the specs of Timberlodge apparently bc they went out of business. My dealership thinks it a Lipppert, but has no information beyond that. I have also called several places online and no one can give me more info. Does anyone here know anything about this and may be able to point me in the correct direction? I have a vin number and a model, thats it. Thanks!

Find a mobile RV tech near where your trailer is located, hire him to fix it.

Mobile tech is a good idea....What do you mean when you say, "The slide motor has completely went out. " Does it still run and the slide will not move? If so that could be a broken sheer pin. OR does it not run at all? This is probably an electrical problem and not the motor itself.Need lots more info.Since you are in Alaska and the trailer is in LA....this really complicates things. Suggest you wait until you and your trailer are in the same place and then address the problem....Plenty of options in LA for repair.Good luck with it.

Thank you for your responses. The motor was lagging for lack of a better word, would come on but barely move the slide. It finally stopped moving it at all. You can hear it slightly but no movement. When I pulled the slide in the last time, I had to go under the rv and tap on the motor to get it to function. LA - I meant Louisiana. Central Louisiana, and I haven't found a mobile tech within a 100+ miles of my location, so that's not a viable option right now. My hope was to get the part ordered so it would be in by the time I went back to LA so I can stay in the RV. Right now it won't open. My brother will be flying in with me and between the 2 of us we can install it. I was hoping that perhaps someone on here either owned the same rv, or had in the past and perhaps had the same problem.Thanks for all the suggestions

The thing with motors is they produce a certain amount of horsepower, and not any more. They are usually sized to do their job, and they don't usually wear out and start lagging or act weak. There could be many problems, but if a motor is trying to move the load, and the load does not move, perhaps the load is stuck in some way. Or perhaps the connections to the motor are not strong and tight. For many mechanics, changing a motor involves a lot more than just taking it out and putting another back in. While they do that, if they need to they adjust things so the load moves easier, they tighten connections, and they test the motors too. Some will change first, charge you for a new motor and installation, then work on why it does not work. It's never an easy job finding out why things do not work, but very often the problem is not the mover itself, but the parts that allow the mover to move the load.A mobile mechanic with a good reputation will have ways to analyse your problem first, then fix it as easy as he can.

Your slide out motor and gearbox might have been made by Barker Mfg out of Michigan. Contact them and ask if they supplied for your trailer? Barker Mfg.

Seems to me that the OPs primary concern is that when ne and his brother get down there they will need to put the slide out to live in it. There will be a manual way to accomplish that. Look for the manuals for various types of slide motor and carry the appropriate tools with you. Then at least you can be living in it while you do a proper diagnosis.

Some slide motors have a brake mechanism on them. An out of adjustment or failed brake unit is a possibility. Too many variables to diagnose without actually seeing it.

You do not say why you think the motor is bad.
Though it could be...... It would be rare. There are are other reasons it may not be working that are much more likely. A proper diagnosis needs to be done.... Just installing a new motor probably will not fix it.

Ok...unless I missed it in your earlier posts....Is your trailer plugged into power? Is your battery fully charged?
