Help with zirk fittings

No, not a valid statement at all. It is indeed possible to have grease flow both out the front and onto the linings. I've seen the results.

How can I tell if I did indeed blow out the rear seals?

Take the wheel and hub off so you can see the brake pads.

Generally yes, although you do stand the chance of pushing grease out the rear seal.
Dont go overboard and try to push old grease out the front bearing.
Since you’re pumping the cavity between the bearings full, the grease is evenly distributed once the wheel is spinning.
You really don’t even want to fill it. The grease gets dispersed out to the bearings by centrifugal force.

The seal isn't destroyed, it's still there but has been over powered. A seal that leaks will look perfectly normal.

X2 lot of rear seals were ruined by a grease gun. take apart service the unit and put it back together,making sure not to over tighten the bearing nut.

Anything else is just a guess.

It is fair to say that the grease should not be passing the seal, and contaminating the brakes. Follow manufacturer's instructions, and best to do this service, when hubs/grease are warm from use.

I can see the rear seals on my trailer, by using an inspection light, looking at back side of brake assembly. Mine has a couple small holes, above the brake adjusting hole. By using this bright LED exam light in one hole, looking in the other hole, I can actually read the numbers on the seal.
