GCWR 10k? Base V6. I don't think he'll be too happy towing any high walled RV with it. In his case, perceived performance is his limit, not payload.

That is total utter nonsense.
According to The towing guide
HERE the BASE V6 is really not all that bad...
"3.7L DOHC 4V V6 with Ti-VCT and Flex Fuel Capability
delivers 302 hp and 278 lb.-ft. of torque"
That is BETTER than my FIRST truck which was a 97 F250 LIGHT DUTY which was the first year of the split body style. It shared the same body/frame as the F150 and now days would be considered a F150 with Max tow package.
That 97 had a 2V 5.4 which had a fire breathing 235 HP, towed 5K of trailer and cargo up 7% grades. Yes, it did downshift and yes, it did slow down on those hills but I was STILL passing many semi trucks..
That 3.7 V6 specs is actually almost ON PAR with our 2006 F250 with 3V 5.4 which has 300 HP, does a FINE job towing 7K of trailer and cargo up the same 7% grades.
NO, the 3.7 won't "perform" as well as the turbo version or a 6.2 but IT WILL get the job done.
Not everyone NEEDS a turbo to haul stuff...
