Highest Quality TT?

I'm in the market for a new travel trailer, something in the 30' range with dual opposing slides at the rear. So far, I've about narrowed it down to either the Jayco (JayFlight)or the Premier by Keystone.

I am somewhat impressed by the Jayco two year warranty and the points Jayco makes in their brochure regarding their better construction standards. Is this true or just hype?

I'd love to have your opinions before I make the leap. Thanks!

If it quality, keep looking nether rig you've listed are "highest quality"

Of course, real quality costs more, much more

  • After owning a Sunnybrook for 10 years I started looking for a top quality replacement. I just purchased an Outdoor RV Wind River 250rdsw, loaded. If you want top motorhome quality in a TT the Blackstone and Wind River lines by Outdoor RV are it. Not going to go on and on about them, just look them up.

Good luck in your quest and have fun doing it.
You going to do the camp only or are you getting the Cruiser Lift to put the HD in the back of the truck?

Do you have the 1500 or the 2500 Silverado now?
  • We owned a 2007 Jayco Eagle 322FKS and traded for a 2014 Keystone Cougar High Country 321RES. The Keystone quality is so much better than the Jayco was.
Has opposing slides in the living area and a large bedroom slide up front. Wide open floor plan for entertaining.

Here's a video if you want to look: 321RES
    Happy trails,
  • We had a Rockwood Roo (hybrid) for several years and didn't really have many problems with it except the single slide out was problematic. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. When we decided to upgrade to a TT we looked at Jayco, Keystone, Forest River (Rockwood) and Open Range. The Open Range was the highest priced trailer we looked at but it is what we wanted when we compared cost vs. quality. We plan to at least Snowbird in it and possibly full time for a while when we are both retired next year. We have only used it for one season but the only thing we found wrong was a bad propane regulator which would only draw from one tank. Open Range quickly replaced it.
  • Hi Frank, We looked at many tt's before choosing ours. Like you, we were also looking for rear living with opposing slides. We did look at the Bullet but were not terribly impressed with quality, drawers and cabinets just didn't seem well assembled.

We ended up going with a Starcraft (owned by Jayco) and are very pleased with the initial quality.

Keep in mind when comparing the two, the Jay Flight is aluminum and the bullet is fiberglass.
  • As far as quality and customer satisfaction Jayco has Keystone beat hands down. Our friends Jayco Eagle 5th wheel was 3 years old and had a slide problem that the dealer just could not get right. They made an appointment to go to the factory in IN. The factory has a campground and they not only fix the one side but adjusted the other two, found two windows that were installed incorrectly, and all at no charge!
  • The question "highest quality" will get you folks who generally tell you what they have. In our case, our HTT was a Rockwood ROO and our new TT is a Rockwood Ultra Lite....therefore, we think the FR Rockwood products are the best....for us Of course, "best" can also be considered "best for our budget". Depends on who you're asking and exactly which direction you're going. Forest River makes many, many brands. Some are considered more entry level and some more top of the line. Jayco has a lot of happy customers. Other manufacturers fill in the blanks. Our TT is nothing like what you're looking for, but maybe someone with a similar plan will chime in with more info. Do your homework and happy shopping.
  • If there were ONE "highest quality" unit out there not many would buy anything else. I can only comment on brands I've owned and the Rockwood has been gold for me from day one. Had one warranty concern during the two year factory warranty (toilet valve had to be replaced) and that would have been under $50.00 had I paid for the repair. First concern of any consequence was replacing the converter on our way home from Alaska and with more than 50,000 towing mile on the trailer. Now with 80,000 plus miles it's still a VERY reliable trailer.

Here's a link to a web site that allows owners to rate their own RV based on a standard criteria. Take brands with low number of returns with a grain of salt whether they're HIGH or LOW. Good luck / Skip
