I pull the hitch out and and latch it back on the trailer and put the locking pin in the hitch as well as lock the latch. I have the round bar with chain setup, so I just toss them under the tongue and then with a pad lock, lock all the chains together to the safety chains.
With your square bars, can't think of a way to secure them? But, in general, you could probably just stash them under the trailer and be fine?
