Got tags and a title on the way, exact same process i used for my 76 ford. Used a certification of ownership form, registered it, paid taxes, title on the way. My wife has already recovered the table bench cushions, now just gotta do the couch/bed. Still need to address the roof leak but we've found the panels we like for the ceiling. Worst part so far is the floor was rotted out at the door but it stopped right before a cross member so i can cut back to that to patch it. I'll post some pics when i can.
That is great to hear, I was looking into buying a 1984 F250 Ranger 4X4 from my best friend only to find out that his late BIL bought the truck when the tags were new and drove it until the Tags expired and never registered it in his name. They expired about 6 years ago.
Estimate is way over $1000.00 to transfer ownership to my name, then there is another $1200 or $1500 to bring the tags up to date.
The actual cost to transfer and pay a years tag is about $200.00, the rest are fines for not registering within 10 days or so and for not keeping the license up to date. If he had transferred the registration and then died without paying the yearly tag fee, it would only be the $200.00. The inheritor does not get stuck for late fees on the tags.
