- pnicholsExplorer IIThe OP's photo reminded me of an old camper we owned when the kids were young.
This was a 1969 Chinook camper ... called a "chassis mount" truck camper back then. No tag axle for the GMC 3500 dually truck it was built on. Today I guess it might be called a Class C motorhome: - JoeChiOhkiExplorer IIIf I could have found one of these back when I was searching for a camper, I would probably have never done the dually conversion :p.
- jefe_4x4ExplorerI"m still thinking this would look appropriate and work well on a used 11' bed (or flatbed), class 5 truck if the TC is not already clapped.
jefe - Wagonqueen_TrucExplorerLooked at all the vintage campers a year ago before buying my vintage TC. Showed my husband a pic of one of these and he said "forget it" ! In retrospect, he is a smart man.
- mkirschNomad IIYeah, but they also didn't build the campers near as heavy back then as now.
I'm sure it's still overloaded, but I bet the weight is closer to 2500lbs than 5000lbs. - 805greggExplorerAre you sure it's not a Chalet?
- FreeLanceingExplorer III saw one of those, tho not quite that nice, in the Fred Meyer lot in Soldotna Ak. The one I saw was also on 1/2 ton truck. It had to huge puddles under it. Like he bypassed both tanks. It also had a chimney for the wood burner. Looked like it had been there a while. They had a sign requesting 3 day stay. Many where abusing that. When I walked my dog around the store there were several tents in the back woods as well.
- CaveRunExplorerThat is a big camper on a ''small truck''! :)... I noticed the chain too, pjay9.
The one in the showroom looks nice!
Thanks for posting the pictures & link! - notevenExplorer IIIA tag axle would be an alternative to paying depreciation and interest on a $75,000 'nuff truck...
- pjay9ExplorerDid you notice th chain in top pic and then later a forklift...wonder why? maybe because it is a F150.
