I have been conducting an unofficial experiment on the topic of what trucks do girls like for many years in order to satisfy my personal observation. Over the years friends and colleagues in the same situation have asked me what truck would their wife warm up to.

I suggest they test drive all of them and make the Chevy Silverado 1500 the second in line. Don't bias them in any manner and don't focus on the Chevy. The girls almost unanimously chose the Chevy with Dodge a close second.

They like the ride, the way it drives, the seats are comfy and the interior is eye candy to them.

My wife is from Ft. Worth. We went from a Tacoma to a Ram 3500. We looked at all of them and she thought the Ram was the nicest one of the big three. I liked the Cummins and the 5th wheel prep group. My mechanic felt the Ram was the best for us. Now getting her to drive it with a trailer attached is something else. So maybe your statistic is really on target.

OP, that wasn`t meant to be as rude as it sounded. just that she needs to understand that she may have to get something she doesn`t think she`d like, when in the end she will be perfectly happy!

agreed, that was my thought, that's why I posted the pic of the Gm truck .
They ride so nice and you get all the bells and whistles. My wife just bought a new Silverado . Once she planted herself in a truck in 1990,i can't get her out of one . She bought a blanket and pillow for it too. I think she plans to live in it . :)

Apparently they have re-designed and are retooling for the 2017 Ridgeline. Curious about what improvements it will have. There is room for a bunch of them. Improvements, not Ridgelines.

That's to be expected since they ended production all the way back in early 2014. The new truck should be out this year and according to Honda will have a max tow capacity of 7,000 lbs. The truck is supposed to share the platform, engine, and trans from the current Pilot which has a towing capacity of only 3,500 lbs. So it will be interesting to see how they'll get to 7,000 lbs.

The Ridgeline is a car-based SUV with a pickup truck-like bed. It's an excellent vehicle, and capable of towing what it's rated to tow at the speeds it's rated to tow it (55-60 mph). When reading comments from people who had them in the past - keep in mind that prior to the 2009 it was under-powered, had severe limitations on the tow recommendations, and Honda had issues with the transmission when used for towing.

They redesigned it (and the Pilot and Odyssey - the other vehicles built on the same platform) for 2009 and it's been quite good since then. The new 9-speed introduced for the 2016 model year seems to need a little work yet - I'd get the 6-speed if getting one of the three vehicles new.

I had a Ridgeline for 6 years and it was a nice ride, but at best it's a minivan with a tiny bed. Rated to tow 5k, but it struggled with my 3500lb boat.

You want to think "1/2 ton" from any of the Big 3. :)

Since this discussion has been so much about the Honda Ridgeline, if you're not absolutely set on brand new why not take a look around for a good, low mileage Chevy Avalanche? I've owned both a Silverado and an Avalanche and of the two, for personal use as an incredibly versatile family vehicle, I'd give the nod to our Av which carries 4 in total comfort, 5 with 3 on back seat, or even 6 in a pinch. It's fully enclosed, locking cargo compartment is invaluable, especially when we're on a camping trip, and it has a mid gate that can be lowered to allow carrying a full 4' x 8' sheet. It's 130" wheelbase is also shorter than a crew cab Silverado, F150, or Ram so it's much easier to back a trailer into a tight campsite than with a longer wheelbase vehicle yet long enough for towing a trailer up to ~ 30' in length without issue. An Avalanche can do anything for you that a Ridgeline could but better, in every way. :B

It was the wind thing that really had me worried. We had a really bad experience with our very 1st rv when we tried pulling to South Padre one year. We were pulling a full height travel trailer with a Dodge Dakota. Did okay pulling around Iowa but when we got out on the flats around Okalahoma City things went south real fast.

I believe if we stay with the pickups that haven't been lifted and she is comfortable getting in out of we will be just fine.
